A Seat in Every Boat: Neurodiverse Sport and US Rowing Launch New Resource for Inclusion

At Neurodiverse Sport, we believe that creating truly inclusive sporting environments starts with understanding, collaboration, and action. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with US Rowing to launch a brand-new neurodiversity resource, now available on their Launch education platform.

This practical guide has been created to help rowers, coaches, and clubs across the U.S. better understand and support neurodivergent athletes. From communication strategies to sensory considerations, the resource is designed to ensure that everyone—regardless of neurotype—can thrive in the sport. Because when it comes to inclusion, there really is a seat in the boat for everyone.

As part of this collaboration, Caragh McMurtry, founder and CEO of Neurodiverse Sport and a former Olympic rower, has been invited to speak at the upcoming United We Row Summit on November 14–15, 2024. This virtual event is a key moment in US Rowing’s ongoing commitment to accessibility, bringing together coaches, leaders, and changemakers from across the sport.

Caragh will join a panel to discuss the thinking behind the new resource, share lived-experience insight as a neurodivergent athlete, and explore how inclusion in rowing can move from theory into everyday practice. The panel is part of a broader program designed to leave attendees with actionable strategies, interactive tools, and fresh perspectives on how to lead with inclusion.

The United We Row Summit will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET on both days, hosted via Zoom, and is open to anyone passionate about making rowing more inclusive. You can find registration details and the full event lineup on the United We Row Summit page.

We’re proud to work with organisations like US Rowing who are ready to listen, learn, and lead the way in embedding neuroinclusion across sport. This is just the beginning of what we can achieve—together.
