Sensory Challenges

Introduction to our RFU Resources

These resources were developed by Neurodiverse Sport in collaboration with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) to support coaches in building more inclusive environments for neurodivergent players. We are proud to host these materials on our own platform, with the RFU’s kind permission, to help widen access and reach communities who may benefit from these resources across a range of sporting and educational settings.

We kindly ask that you do not copy, reproduce, or redistribute the content without permission. For the full collection of coaching tools and CPD opportunities, please visit the RFU Coach Resources page.

Resource 8. Sensory Challenges

Coaches learn how sensory sensitivities (to light, sound, touch, etc.) can affect players and how small changes create a more comfortable environment.

Highlight: It offers practical advice on using quieter spaces, softer materials, or fewer visual distractions to help players feel safe.
